| Summary: Shady midnight meetings prompt Sir Ystin to seek a strangely muted friend in potential danger. Plot Scene: Youth in Revolt | |||
|
It's like, well, night time. Fairly late night time, though not directly after 'the incident' as it is known. Ystina has been strangely reticent to inform her mentor of all that has gone down, perhaps out of a fear of being reprimanded for sneaking out AND allowing a witch to escape. As well, she is sort of conflicted as to what is going on--if they are just young heroes out to do good, well, ratting them out seems a trifle 'snitchy' as the kids on the block would say.
There is of course the serious doubt that they are such beings.
So young sir Ystin sneaks out again on a different night (the best available time between Pendragon's vigilance and Dana's pizza shifts) and flies to Metropolis on pegasusback. Lands on Gilotina's rooftop. Comes tap-tap-tapping at the window in her knightclothes, plus a ski jacket. It's cold in February flying in high atmosphere, what.
She's even okay with some other sister answering, she's sort of used to the idea of this being an unusual household.
Gilotina's in her room. Actually, Gilotina's been in her room for like a few days by now; somewhere in the last week or so, the frequently present birds and squirrels and chipmunks beside her window or in her path or what have you that she associates with Fauna Faust being present when she can't /really/ be present have trickled off, pretty much without warning.
So at some point the apartment got all new furniture(again) and then she sequestered herself in her room.
The first thing to come into view in response to those tapping noises is the keen edge of one of her swords; the second is her equally sharp glare. She is dressed sort of atypically, in that her attire is just 'a really baggy Sid Vicious t-shirt and sweat pants' because she's seen a whole lot of movies and this is what jilted women /wear/ okay.
Upon seeing that it's Ystin, her glare doesn't really go anywhere, but she does at least lower the sword. Forcefully, she pushes the window up and hisses, "/What/?!"
Ystina studies Gilotina's attire and glare with a little furrow of knight-brows. The sword-first greeting isn't all that unusual or really a particularly bad idea in Ystin's world, it could be anybody coming to the window in the middle of the night. The signs of some kind of bereavement are clear, however.
Still, that is not what she came for even if it is significant perhaps for later. "Lady Gilotina!" She hisses back, since they're all whispering and this is of secretive importance. "I didst receive a letter most clandestine that directed me to a place in Central City to meet some 'young heroes seeking true justice'. However, upon going there I didst find that they had also invited a witch!" She pauses here for dramatic effect before getting to the point.
"And they didst say that in order to join their new legion that we had to strike down an enemy of the good order of things. I am not remiss in seeking justice but they asked me to strike at thee, and I could never--thou hast been only friend to me!" She places a hand upon her chest all injured-like. "So I did wish to warn thou of their ill-intention."
"What?!" Gilotina incredulously exclaims after being informed of being a target. The whole 'witch' thing doesn't really raise an eyebrow; she lives with a deific vampire, after all. "/Who/?! Why--" A split-second passes, and then suddenly the grabbiest New Goddess' hands are shooting out of the window to grab the lapels of Ystina's jacket. If she gets a grip, she will gracelessly yank the wee knight inside to be shaken.
"How do I--how do I know this isn't some kind of /trick/?! Maybe you're just--did--did any of them look /really/ young?! Like--like a ten or eleven year old Earth girl?! Did she have a /cat/?!"
Ystina was not really expecting to be Gilo-grabbed (non-scissor) and so she is hauled inside the apartment with a 'glurk' sort of startled sound. "I-i-i nooo the one with the cat was a boy, he didst admit it verily without any asking--there was a girl there but she was mine own age and bore a solar emblem on a field azure and didst call herself Sun Girl I swear to thee Lady Gilotina this is no trick upon mine own part--" Her speech is a bit stilted from the rattling.
Gilotina kinda just keeps on shaking for a little while after deciding that Ystina's probably telling the truth, because once you're on a person-shaking streak it is kind of difficult to just stop. When she does finally let the knightling go, her inredulity - horrified incredulity, really - is gone. There's no more glaring, even; she's kinda angry still but it's vague, and she's more sad and tired than anything.
"Well--well you can't kill me," she reminds, just to be sure. "Neither can they--why would anyone want to kill me? I haven't /done/ anything..."
Ystina doesn't sag to the floor when released though the urge is there. She does sort of wobble a little bit for a moment, then steadies herself with the aid of a hand on some nearby brand-new furniture "I hath no reason to kill thee and plenty for not." She reassures. "Their leader, one Inertia, despises young Impulse, the youngling Flash. They lured me in because they had a seeming young knight of their own calling himself Crusader--perhaps he may yet be redeemed." She trails off slightly. "I know not why they wish thee harm but I felt warning should be brought swiftly as might be."
"Oh," Gilotina murmurs as numbness creeps increasingly into her voice, "I don't know who that is." Beat. "I don't know who /any/ of those people are--none of /them/ could kill me either though. They must be desperate or something if they tried to trick /you/ into doing it."
After another moment of silence, the Female Fury lunges again--this time, though, it's for hugging with arms capable of supporting a car overhead and mumbles of, "Thank you," in a manner that one might reserve for the dentist who's just yanked one's wisdom teeth free.
There's another startled rib-creaking sort of sound, but Ystina is hardier than her tiny little white girl frame suggests. She manages to hug Gilotina back after a moment, and also to look a big concerned. "Thou art most welcome m'lady. But I do fear that something else doth trouble thee, that the spectre of unseen enemies on the hunt doth not disturb thee somewhat more, or at least to anger."
"They're just dumb kids, what kind of threat could they /really/ be?" Gilotina mutters after she's pulled way, way away from Ystina. As a total afterthought she does suggest, "We could tell Robin and Impulse or something though, if you want--maybe they'll know more about this," after dropping to take a seat on the edge of her bed. "I'm sure Robin will; Robin knows lots of things."
"He doth seem like a learned young squire." Sir Ystina agrees. She doesn't require things as paltry as invitations once she's already in somebody's bedroom, she just sits on the edge of Gilotina's bed further down. "I shouldst go visit him perhaps. It hath been some time." Again, thoughtful. "Would thou care to come along? If thou has time this eve."
Gilotina does actually get kind of tense at the added weight on her bed; years of necessary territorialism, after all. Ystina, though, Ystina's no real threat(or she's a friend, or, you know, something), so gradually the Apokoliptian relaxes instead of shoving or something.
"I--" She looks down at herself for a moment, frowns deeply, then climbs to her feet and hurries to a door set into one of her walls. "Fine, but I will have to /change/, just--just hold on," she warns before yanking the door and revealing the impossibly cavernous space on the other side. There are lots and lots and lots of racks of clothes in there; the walls are kind of kirby-circuited also.
"I can just use Father Box--it's connected to everyone's communicators," she mutters as she begins disrobing and crosses the closet's threshold. "It's really very convenient, being able to get in touch with him whenever he's /needed/."
"I imagine it must be." Sir Ystina allows. She stares at the racks of clothing thusly revealed for a moment, only noticing the strange circuiting in brief before she must avert her eyes as Gilotina begins to disrobe and choose from among the wide selection of outfits. "I hath my cell-phone for contacting the Lady Dana when I am to be out late or other such contrivances but I hath not Robin's number." It's also a really cheap cell-phone and she's still not a huge fan of the things. "Thou hast quite a lot of clothing." She adds.
"Yes--Kay complains about the cost sometimes, but they're all very much worth it," Gilotina says with just a little bit of brightness. If /anything/ can bring her exuberance to the fore, it's her wardrobe. "We will try and get Robin's phone number for you--maybe this information will make you worthy of it in his eyes."
Following this, she disappears into the closet.
It might be a while before she actually emerges again.
